Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, has announced that the days of Pakistani unskilled workers filling jobs in the UAE are coming to an end. As the UAE shifts towards a high-end skilled labor market, the demand is now for skilled professionals.
“We need to train accountants, IT professionals, bankers, AI experts, physicians, nurses, and pilots to meet the growing demand in the UAE job market,” Tirmizi said in an interview with Gulf News. He highlighted that with the right training, skilled professionals could earn salaries of Dh20,000 and above, a far cry from the previous average of Dh1,000 for unskilled laborers.
Tirmizi emphasized the importance of skills development to meet global demands, with sectors like IT, healthcare, and accounting being vital. He also pointed out the global need for physiotherapists and nurses, as well as the UAE's increasing demand for aviation professionals. Discussions are underway with international aviation colleges to establish pilot training schools in Pakistan, aiming to reduce training costs.
Remittances from the UAE to Pakistan have surged by 53% in the last six months, reaching $4.5 billion, and the ambassador set a target of surpassing the $9 billion mark by the end of the fiscal year. He also stressed the importance of enhancing tourism, higher education, and Pakistan's global economic standing, with the UAE as a key partner in this vision.
