In December 2024, an Israeli airstrike murdered five journalists amid a catastrophic escalation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip. The attack targeted a car parked outside Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat refugee camp that belonged to Al-Quds Al-Youm TV, a channel connected to the extremist Islamic Jihad group. Even though their car was obviously identified as a press vehicle, the journalists were allegedly recording events at the hospital when it was hit.
