Abdullah Bin Faisal Bin Turki Al Saud Receives Japan's Imperial Award

TOKYO: Abdullah bin Faisal bin Turki Al Saud, the former governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority, has been awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, one of Japan’s highest honors.

He was recognized for his significant contributions to strengthening the economic ties between Japan and Saudi Arabia, according to the Japanese Foreign Ministry.

In addition, several other distinguished individuals were honored, including Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, former Egyptian foreign minister, and Leena Madhuhar Hassan Annab, former Jordanian ambassador to Japan. 

They received the same award for promoting friendly relations between Japan and their respective nations.

Yousef Ahmed Al-Hnaity, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon.

Four Tunisians were also honored with the Gold Rays with Rosette for their achievements in various fields: Habib Gamra, Adnene Khouaja, Jamel Boujdaria, and Imed Ben Ammar.

A total of 1,888 individuals, including 107 foreigners from 45 countries, have been recognized.

Notable overseas honorees include former US Ambassador to Japan William Hagerty and International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, who will both receive the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun.

The official awards ceremony is scheduled for May 9 at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
