Rawalpindi: Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Ameen Gandapur has effectively sidelined Imran Khan from party decisions.
Speaking to journalists outside Adiala Jail, Aleema was asked whether Gandapur had "minus-ed" Imran Khan. She responded, “I believe he has indeed been minus-ed.”
In response to another question regarding reports from KP assembly members suggesting that Gandapur is too powerful to be challenged, Aleema remarked, “If they can't bear the burden, they should step aside.”
Her statement comes a day after the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly passed the provincial budget for the upcoming fiscal year with a majority vote. This move contrasts with an earlier directive from the jailed PTI founder. On June 17, Imran Khan had stated that the budget should not be approved until Ali Ameen Gandapur, Omar Ayub, Muzzammil Aslam, Taimur Jhagra, and Shibli Faraz briefed him in jail.
The developments highlight an emerging internal power struggle within PTI, as senior figures in the party diverge from the directives of its imprisoned founder.
