Beijing: Chinese state media has called on the Philippines to withdraw the United States' "Typhon" intermediate-range missile system from the South China Sea, accusing Manila of breaking its promises over the deployment.
In a strongly worded commentary, the People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party, criticized the Philippines for allegedly acting in bad faith. "The region needs stability and development, not weapons and confrontation," the paper stated. It accused the Philippines of initially assuring that the deployment was temporary but failing to follow through on those promises.
As of now, the Philippine embassy in Beijing has not issued a response to these allegations.
