Dubai: The UAE is ramping up its commitment to wellness by promoting yoga across schools, sports events, and major city initiatives. Ahmed Ibrahim, President of the UAE Yoga Committee, unveiled plans to introduce yoga into school curricula and launch a new ‘Dubai Yoga’ event during the 2025 Dubai Fitness Challenge.
In a regional first, Fujairah will host the sixth Asian Yogasana Championship from August 9–11, the first in the GCC. The championship will feature youth and adult competitions organized under the Asian Yogasana Sports Federation.
A successful Arabic-language yoga workshop recently attracted participants from across the Arab world and certified new judges and coaches. Ibrahim emphasized yoga’s potential to support mental and physical balance in a fast-paced city like Dubai.
More than 35 venues across the UAE will also celebrate International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2025. The overarching goal is to make yoga a permanent part of daily life in the UAE.
