Hamas Applauds ICC Arrest Warrants for Israeli Leaders, Urges Broader Action Against War Crimes

The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has welcomed the International Criminal Court's (ICC) issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in connection with the ongoing Gaza war. Hamas called for the scope of the warrants to be expanded beyond Netanyahu and Gallant to include other Israeli leaders who are complicit in the occupation of Palestinian territories and involved in alleged war crimes.

Hamas urged the ICC to hold all Israeli leaders accountable, especially those in decision-making roles within Israel's war cabinet. This includes members of the ruling coalition and other cabinet ministers who have had significant influence over military actions in the conflict.

The ICC prosecutor's request for arrest warrants was made in May, and after six months of deliberation, the court has now approved the request. The decision is seen as a major development in the international legal efforts to hold Israeli leaders accountable for their actions in Gaza.
