Haramain High-Speed Railway Sets New Record for Daily Passengers

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Haramain High-Speed Railway has achieved its highest daily passenger count since its launch in 2018, transporting approximately 48,000 passengers on the 15th of Ramadan, according to the Saudi Railway Company (SAR).

Since the beginning of Ramadan, daily ridership has averaged over 39,000 passengers, highlighting the railway’s role as the fastest route to Makkah for worshippers, Umrah performers, and Hajj pilgrims.

To meet rising demand, SAR has gradually increased trips, reaching 130 daily journeys during the last 10 days of Ramadan. Train schedules have been adjusted to accommodate peak travel times, and additional lounges have been introduced at Madinah station to enhance passenger experience.

The Haramain High-Speed Railway, a 453-km electric line, is among the world’s top 10 fastest trains, operating at speeds of up to 300 km/h, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
