Iran's New Approach: Counseling Clinics for Women Rejecting Hijab

In a significant move, Iran has announced the establishment of counseling clinics aimed at addressing the growing trend of women choosing not to wear the hijab. This initiative has been framed by officials as a response to what they describe as a mental health issue among women who deviate from traditional dress codes.

According to reports, the first clinic will be set up in the capital, Tehran, under the supervision of Mehr Talebi Daristani. This facility is touted as Iran's inaugural counseling center dedicated to providing scientific and psychological support to women who refuse to wear the hijab.

The clinic aims to offer guidance not only to young women and adolescents but also to those seeking to embrace their Islamic identity. This decision comes in the wake of heightened tensions following the tragic death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody in 2022, an event that sparked widespread protests and a shift in societal attitudes towards hijab enforcement.

As Iran navigates this complex issue, the establishment of these clinics reflects an attempt to address the concerns of a new generation while maintaining the country's cultural and religious values.
