Gaza: In the past 48 hours, Israeli forces have killed at least 10 Palestinians who were desperately seeking aid at a distribution point in Gaza, the besieged enclave’s Government Media Office reported.
The office stated that Israeli troops “opened direct fire on hungry Palestinian civilians” gathered to receive assistance, wounding at least 62 others.
The deadly incident occurred at the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) distribution site in Rafah, southern Gaza, where harrowing footage showed thousands of starving Palestinians rushing toward aid supplies, many forced into cage-like lines.
The GHF’s aid effort has faced widespread criticism from UN officials and humanitarian groups, who argue that life-saving aid could be safely and adequately delivered if Israel allowed access and trusted experienced organizations to manage the flow.
Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations, condemned Israel’s actions, accusing the Israeli government of using “aid as a weapon of war” to further its military objectives amid the ongoing blockade and conflict. The situation highlights the severe humanitarian crisis and growing international concern over the use of aid in the conflict.
