Jeddah Forum: Brings Louis Home to Tamil Nadu, India

Louis, a native of Tamil Nadu, was working as a house driver in the suburban area of Kumrah, Jeddah. He tragically passed away on January 13, 2025. Following his death, his wife and family members reached out to Karaikal A. Raja Muhammad, a TMMK Executive, for assistance in repatriating his body to India.

Immediate Response by IWF Jeddah

Upon receiving the request for assistance, the Indian's Welfare Forum (IWF) Jeddah promptly took action. Selvagani, the IWF Jeddah Social Welfare Secretary, was notified, and a WhatsApp group was created to coordinate efforts among all involved parties.

Legal Authorization and Documentation

Legal authorization (Wakala) was secured under the name of Brother Jameeldeen, who, alongside IWF Jeddah Regional President Abdul Majeed, worked tirelessly for over 20 days to complete the necessary documentation and clearances for the repatriation.

Successful Repatriation to India

On February 12, 2025, Louis’ body was successfully repatriated to India. Karaikal A. Raja Muhammad, a TMMK Executive, received the remains at Chennai International Airport. The TMMK State Medical Services Secretary, Kaleel Rahman, oversaw the process.

Transport and Final Arrangements

TMMK Ambulance Service took responsibility for transporting the body from Chennai to Karaikal, while the TMMK Anna Nagar Administration covered all related expenses, ensuring the remains were safely handed over to Louis’ family.

Key Individuals Involved in the Effort

Several key individuals contributed significantly to this humanitarian effort:

  • IWF Jeddah Regional Administrators: Keelai Irfan, Panangattur Abdul Haleem, Mukhavai Abdul Samad, Ahmad Basheer, and Mangalakudi Taha Rasool
  • Jameeldeen, who visited various government offices multiple times to complete the necessary paperwork.

Financial Support and Communication

Louis’ sponsor covered all financial expenses related to the repatriation. Throughout the process, communication and support were provided by:
