Saudi Arabia's Jeddah - The Jeddah Tower, which will surpass Dubai's Burj Khalifa by more than 172 meters and become the world's tallest structure, has formally resumed construction.
The ambitious project, officially called the Jeddah Economic Company Tower (JEC Tower), would be the focal point of the Jeddah Economic City expansion and is expected to reach an incredible height of over 1,000 meters (3,281 feet).
At a ceremony, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company, and other important stakeholders celebrated the pouring of concrete for the 64th floor of the tower, reigniting the construction.
Renowned architects Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture created the Jeddah Tower, which will have a Four Seasons hotel, business space, and a variety of opulent homes. Additionally, it will have the highest observation deck in the world, offering stunning views of the city and the Red Sea.
An estimated $20 billion USD will be spent on this enormous project overall, of which $1.2 billion would go directly toward the skyscraper.
"The Jeddah Tower will be a source of innovation and a growth engine," said Kingdom Holding Company CEO Eng. Talal AlMaiman.
The JEC Tower is a component of a broader master plan that encompasses residential neighborhoods, schools, hospitals, and colleges with space for up to 100,000 people. The goal of this large-scale urban development is to rejuvenate Jeddah's downtown and establish a new neighborhood that emphasizes luxury living and business.
