MAKKAH: The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques is enhancing the safety, comfort, and experience of millions of pilgrims at the Grand Mosque through advanced technology and strategic oversight.
At the core of this transformation is a state-of-the-art command center, equipped with real-time sensors at key entrances to track pilgrim numbers and optimize crowd management. A camera system monitors entry movements, helping prevent congestion, especially in critical areas like the Tawaf and Sa’i routes.
To further improve efficiency, over 200 digital panels have been installed for easy navigation, and the number of electric golf carts has been increased to 400, alongside custom-designed manual carts for seamless transportation.
A high-capacity cooling system utilizing 155,000 tonnes of refrigeration ensures a comfortable environment, while precision lighting and an advanced audio system enhance the spiritual atmosphere. Additionally, a QR-coded luggage storage service offers secure and efficient tracking of belongings.
The authority continues to uphold high service standards, implementing periodic updates to accommodate the ever-growing number of pilgrims.
