New York: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has emphasized that terrorism remains a major challenge for the world, while Pakistan continues to face cross-border terrorism. He called for collective efforts to ensure global peace and security.
Speaking at the United Nations Security Council meeting on "Strengthening Multilateralism and Improving Global Governance," Ishaq Dar commended China for presiding over this crucial session and extended congratulations to both Pakistan and China for their role in organizing the meeting.
“This session is taking place at a time when the world is facing severe crises, threatening the international order established under the UN Charter,” Dar stated.
Referring to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Pakistani foreign minister welcomed the recently announced ceasefire agreement in Gaza after 15 months of hostilities, calling it “a ray of hope.” He urged the international community to ensure immediate humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir issue, calling for its resolution in accordance with UN resolutions.
Highlighting the growing security concerns in the region, Dar stated that Pakistan continues to face cross-border terrorism, particularly from banned militant groups like Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), operating from Afghan soil. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to countering terrorism and stressed that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is in the best interest of the entire region.
Dar called upon the international community to take collective action to safeguard global peace and security, urging stronger cooperation in tackling terrorism and resolving international conflicts.
