Trump: Iran's Attacks Caused Severe Damage to Israel, But Nuclear Threat Unlikely

The Hague: U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that recent Iranian attacks have inflicted severe damage on Israel, particularly in recent days, with ballistic missiles destroying multiple buildings.

Trump made these remarks during a joint press conference alongside NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte on the second day of the NATO summit in the Netherlands.

When asked by a journalist to respond to Iranian Foreign Minister's reported statement about continuing uranium enrichment, Trump responded, “I don’t know if he actually said that. But at this point, they don’t want to enrich anything. They want to stabilize themselves, and we’re not going to let them do that—not from a defense standpoint.”

He added, “I believe we’ll eventually have some kind of relationship with Iran. In the past four days, both sides agreed to a ceasefire. It was a balanced deal. Both said, ‘That’s enough now.’”

Dismissing the possibility of Iran pursuing nuclear weapons, Trump said, “No, they’re not going to enrich nuclear material. They have no intention of doing that. Just imagine—after all this—they decide to say, ‘Let’s go build a bomb?’ They won’t build a bomb, and they won’t enrich anything.”

He further explained the technical difficulty of dismantling hidden nuclear infrastructure: “We’re confident it’s all buried deep. Removing it is very difficult and dangerous. It’s not like lifting a carpet and moving it somewhere else.”

Calling the ceasefire a mutual win, Trump remarked, “We achieved a tremendous success. It was a victory for everyone—even Iran. They have oil, they are intelligent people, and they can rise again.”

In a closing remark, Trump reiterated, “Iran’s attacks caused serious damage to Israel—especially in recent days. Their ballistic missiles destroyed many buildings. Benjamin Netanyahu should be proud of himself. But Iran won’t be making a bomb anytime soon.”
