GAZA, February 21, 2025 A Palestinian woman, identified as Hanaa al-Ghouti, was fatally shot by Israeli military gunfire today in the Al-Jenena neighborhood east of Rafah in southern Gaza, local sources confirmed.
According to eyewitness reports, Israeli forces opened live fire on civilians in the area. In related developments, machine gun fire was observed emanating from Israeli military vehicles operating to the east and northeast of the Al-Bureij refugee camp, as well as east of the Shujaiya neighbourhood in Gaza City.
This incident unfolds against the backdrop of an enduring conflict that has devastated the Gaza Strip since October 2023. Official figures indicate that over 48,000 Palestinians have lost their lives—predominantly women and children—with more than 111,000 injured. Rescue operations remain critically hampered as many victims lie trapped under rubble.
Despite a ceasefire established on January 19, 2025, sporadic attacks have persisted, contributing to the mounting death toll and exacerbating the region’s humanitarian crisis.
