Islamabad: On Wednesday, the Portuguese Embassy, in collaboration with Serena Hotels, hosted “Soulful Strings: Portugal & Pakistan,” a unique musical event celebrating bilateral cultural ties.
The evening featured acclaimed Portuguese classical guitarist Pedro Jóia and renowned Pakistani folk singer Arieb Azhar. Together, they blended Portuguese guitar melodies with traditional Sufi poetry, captivating the audience with a soulful fusion.
Accompanied by table player Kashif Ali and flutist Zeshan Masood, the performance highlighted deep cultural connections through music. Ambassador Manuel Frederico da Silva emphasized the event’s role in enhancing people-to-people relations and promoting soft diplomacy.
Portuguese literary figure José Luís Peixoto visited Pakistan earlier this year to explore artistic cooperation.
The event, attended by diplomats, corporate leaders, and media, underscored the power of cultural exchange. Serena Hotels CEO Aziz Boolani praised the initiative as a bridge between nations through art and music.
