Saudi Arabia: Presidency of Global Anti-Corruption Network GlobE

The Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network) has formally taken over as its president, with Saudi Arabia represented by the Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha).  The handover ceremony was held at the UN headquarters in Vienna.

Key highlights

  • This prestigious nomination comes after a high-level summit in Beijing, China, when Saudi Arabia was decisively selected to chair the GlobE Network for the 2025–2027 term. 
  • The largest global network for coordinating law enforcement agencies' collaborative efforts to look into and fight cross-border corruption is the GlobE Network. 
  • It includes many international organizations and more than 219 law enforcement departments from more than 120 nations.
  • Senior officials from several member states as well as representatives from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) attended the event.

Spain's Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime stepped down to be replaced by Dr. Nasser Aba Al-Khail, Deputy of the Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority for International Cooperation.

During his speech, Dr. Al-Khail underlined the Kingdom's dedication to strengthening member state cooperation in the fight against corruption in accordance with the UN Convention against Corruption. "Our goals include creating new strategies for asset recovery and establishing a secure communication platform to facilitate faster information exchange among member states," he said. 

The objective of this endeavor is to enhance global collaboration and enable governments to successfully address new obstacles in the fight against corruption. 

Saudi Arabia's commitment to bolstering global efforts to fight corruption is demonstrated by its presidency of the GlobE Network. The Kingdom is dedicated to creating laws and instruments that combat corruption offenses and advance accountability and transparency worldwide.

Saudi Arabia's position as a proactive contributor to the development of just, equitable, and sustainable governance systems around the world is strengthened by this leadership role. The Kingdom hopes to create a cooperative atmosphere that supports international efforts to combat corruption as it takes on this important duty.
