February 12, 2025, With an astounding 92.6% of its citizens feeling comfortable walking alone at night in their communities, Saudi Arabia has risen to the top of the G20 in terms of public safety perception. The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) published the 2023 Safety Index Publication, which includes this finding.

  • The information, which comes from the Global Sustainable Development Goals Indicators Database, highlights how well government programs are working to improve security and living standards across the Kingdom.
  • The findings, according to GASTAT, demonstrate the contributions made by different branches of the government to guaranteeing public safety throughout all of Saudi Arabia's governorates and areas.
  • "This ranking is a testament to our ongoing efforts to provide a secure environment for all residents," declared a spokesperson of GASTAT.
  • "It aligns with our broader objectives under Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to enhance stability and well-being across multiple domains, including economic, food, environmental, health, social, political, intellectual, technological, and cybersecurity safety."

One of the main results of the 2023 Household Socio-Economic Survey, which evaluated several facets of Saudi Arabian social and economic life, is the Safety Index Publication. In particular, it measures how safe local communities are perceived by people in general.

Notably, Saudi Arabia has previously won safety rankings; in the 2020 Sustainable Development Report, it led the G20 nations and had the highest Safety Index.

The results are part of Saudi Arabia's efforts to raise the standard of living and public safety for its people. Residents' sense of security has been greatly enhanced by the Kingdom's proactive attitude to strengthening security measures.

This designation as the G20's safest country  marks a major turning point in Saudi Arabia's quest to improve stability and the standard of living for all of its residents as it moves closer to fulfilling its Vision 2030 objectives.
