Saudi Arabia Secures 2nd Place in G20 ICT Regulatory Index

RIYADH: The Kingdom secured second place among G20 countries in the 2024 ICT Regulatory Tracker index, released by the United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

This achievement underscores Saudi Arabia’s significant advancements in telecommunications and technology regulations, highlighting its progress in regulatory innovation, the development of state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, and the implementation of robust market oversight mechanisms.

The ranking reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering an attractive regulatory environment that encourages investment and accelerates digital economic growth, solidifying its role as a global leader in ICT regulation.

The ITU index evaluates the maturity of ICT regulatory frameworks across 194 countries based on 50 criteria grouped into four pillars: regulatory authority, regulatory mandates, regulatory regime, and competition framework.

Saudi Arabia’s accomplishment extends its series of international successes in the telecom and technology sectors, having maintained second place among G20 nations in the ICT Development Index for two consecutive years and securing the same rank in the United Nations’ Telecommunications Infrastructure Index (TII).

These consistent high rankings demonstrate the Kingdom’s robust digital infrastructure and its position as the largest and fastest-growing ICT market in the Middle East and North Africa region.
