Saudi General Aviation Airshow "Sand and Fun 2024" Opens in Riyadh, Highlighting Aviation Innovation

The Saudi General Aviation Airshow, also known as Sand and Fun 2024, officially opened yesterday at Al-Thumama Airport in Riyadh, marking a significant event in the aviation calendar. The opening ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Founder and Chairman of the Saudi Aviation Club, and Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation. The event also saw participation from numerous officials, ambassadors, and aviation industry professionals from across the globe.


Sand and Fun 2024 coincides with the Kingdom's hosting of the General Assembly of the International Air Sports Federation (FAI) Conference, which is bringing together over 160 delegates from 90 countries. The conference provides a platform to discuss the future of the general aviation sector, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s growing role in the global aviation industry.


The opening day featured stunning aerobatic displays by the Saudi Hawks and other international teams, providing a thrilling start to the airshow. Alongside the displays, an exhibition showcasing the latest aviation technologies and programs opened to the public, along with panel discussions and specialized workshops aimed at advancing the industry.


In a key development, the Saudi Aviation Club and Red Sea Aviation Services signed a memorandum of understanding, establishing a partnership through which the company will provide exclusive ground services at Saudi Aviation Club airports. This collaboration further underscores the Kingdom's commitment to enhancing its aviation infrastructure.
