A powerful storm known as the "bomb cyclone" has caused widespread destruction in the northwestern United States, leaving more than half a million people without electricity. The storm has led to at least two fatalities and significant damage to homes and infrastructure.
The intense storm, which impacted Washington state, brought with it heavy rainfall and strong winds reaching speeds of 96 km/h (60 mph), uprooting trees and damaging power lines. Authorities reported that the storm caused power outages across large areas, including in neighboring Canada, where disruptions to electricity supply were also experienced.
In Seattle, a fallen tree tragically claimed the life of a woman, while in Maple Valley, two individuals were injured when a tree fell on a trailer. Local reports confirm the fatalities and injuries, underscoring the storm's deadly impact.
The storm's aftermath has left communities grappling with extensive damage, and efforts to restore power are underway as authorities continue to assess the full scope of the destruction.
