In light of worsening smog conditions, the Punjab government has issued a series of strict measures to combat the air quality crisis. Universities and colleges in Lahore and Multan will be closed, transitioning to online classes. All schools, except in Murree, will remain shut until November 24.
Additionally, a complete ban on construction activities in Lahore and Multan has been enforced, while national-level projects are exempt. Heavy traffic will be restricted in these cities, and operations at brick kilns and furnace industries will be suspended.
Restaurants will have limited hours, operating until 4 PM, with takeout allowed from 4 to 8 PM. Medical staff in Lahore and Multan will have their leaves canceled to ensure healthcare availability, with outpatient departments at hospitals functioning until 8 PM. Rescue services will assist patients affected by smog.
These measures take effect from November 16 and will remain in place until November 24, with pharmacies, departmental stores, dairy shops, flour mills, and tandoors exempt from restrictions.
