Damascus: On Sunday, multiple areas across Syria experienced falling drones and missile debris amid growing clashes between Israel and Iran. The escalating conflict has led to Iranian drones and missile parts hitting various parts of Syria, raising fears for civilian safety. Syrian officials and local sources reported incidents in western and southern provinces, as well as in the northeast where US forces reportedly shot down an Iranian missile.
In Tartus province, a suspected Iranian drone crashed into a home in the village of Al-Talayi, causing a fire that destroyed the house and seriously injured a woman inside. The explosion happened around 10:30 a.m., according to local authorities. Meanwhile, in southern Syria’s provinces of Daraa and Quneitra, six drones fell in different locations, including wooded areas near Nafa’a and rural towns like Saida. No casualties were reported there, but residents described panic and some property damage from the crashes.
In the northeast, US forces in Hasakah province intercepted an incoming Iranian missile over the village of Shalala, near the Kurdish-controlled town of al-Hol. This area is known for housing a camp holding suspected Islamic State prisoners. Thankfully, no injuries or damage were reported after the missile was shot down. Syrian Emergency Minister Raed al-Saleh warned civilians not to touch or approach any drone or missile debris, urging them to report suspicious objects to safety teams to avoid harm from unexploded remnants.
The rising drone and missile activity reflects a direct and intense phase of the Israel-Iran conflict, with both countries striking targets across regional airspace. Syria’s territory and skies, already suffering from over a decade of war, have once again become a dangerous frontline. No group has officially claimed responsibility for the drone crashes inside Syria, but experts believe the incidents are spillovers from the larger military confrontation.
Observers warn that if the escalation continues, such dangerous incidents could happen more often, putting more civilians at risk even far from the main battle zones. This growing violence adds to the already fragile situation in Syria, where many people have endured years of conflict and destruction. The international community watches closely as tensions between Israel and Iran threaten wider regional instability.
