Violence in Balochistan: Six Killed, Including CTD Officer, in Separate Incidents

Quetta: Balochistan witnessed a series of violent incidents on Wednesday night, resulting in the deaths of at least nine people, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), according to provincial authorities.

SP Coastal Highway Police, Hafeez Baloch confirmed that unidentified gunmen stopped a bus traveling from Gwadar to Karachi and forcibly took six passengers off the vehicle. The incident occurred on the Coastal Highway between Pasni and Kalmat in Gwadar district.

"After taking them off the bus, the armed men opened fire, killing five people and injuring one," SP Baloch said. He also confirmed that the attackers set a vehicle on fire in the area.

This attack comes just weeks after armed assailants targeted four gas tankers on the same highway.

Meanwhile, in Mastung district, Deputy Commissioner Zohaib Kabezi confirmed that unidentified gunmen set up roadblocks on the Quetta-Jacobabad Highway and the Quetta-Karachi Highway.

During one such blockade, the attackers fired at two CTD personnel, killing ASI Javed Lehri and injuring another officer.

In Turbat, unknown assailants launched three grenade attacks. One of the grenades landed in the B&R Colony, hitting a residential quarter. Kech Police Chief Rashid Rehman Zehri reported that five members of a single family—including a husband, wife, and their three daughters—were injured in the explosion. They were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

In another act of violence, armed men set fire to four containers in the Tijaban area of Kech district. A senior local official stated that one container was saved, but three were severely damaged. These containers were transporting urea fertilizer from Gwadar Port to Afghanistan.
