A woman who was duped into investing Dh71,000 in a fraudulent scheme has won a legal battle in Al Ain Court. The two young men involved in the scam were ordered to pay Dh80,000, including compensation for damages.
The woman was contacted by scammers via an international phone number, who offered an investment opportunity through social media platforms. Believing the scheme to be legitimate, she transferred the money to the defendants’ accounts.
Further investigations revealed the scam was orchestrated by foreign individuals, and the two men were convicted in connection with the case. Along with the Dh80,000 award, the defendants were also required to cover court fees, though other claims were dismissed.
