Afghan Academy of Sciences Hosts Seminar on Economic Responsibilities in Kabul

Kabul: The Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan recently held a research seminar in Kabul, focusing on the theme "Economic Responsibilities of the Islamic System." The event brought together key government officials and business leaders to discuss the country’s economic trajectory under the Islamic Emirate.

During the seminar, Nooruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Commerce, highlighted the government's commitment to fostering private sector growth, which he credited for the expansion of Afghanistan's trade. He asserted that the country’s exports have grown significantly in comparison to the previous government’s era.

Azizi also dismissed allegations that the Islamic Emirate receives financial aid from the United States, stating: "These claims are baseless. If such aid existed, I would be aware of it. Not a single rupee has been received by the Islamic Emirate."

Abdul Latif Nazari, Deputy Minister of Economy, emphasized Afghanistan’s success in strengthening its economy by relying on domestic resources. He noted that the Islamic Emirate is managing economic policies based on Islamic principles and Afghanistan’s historical, cultural, and national values, aiming for self-reliance and sustainable development.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Younus Momand, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, underscored the importance of modernizing agriculture, enhancing product standards, utilizing the country’s mineral wealth, expanding the industrial sector, and strengthening international trade relations for Afghanistan’s economic growth.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Islamic Emirate has prioritized key economic initiatives over the past three years, including private sector support, land allocation for increased domestic production, agricultural expansion for self-sufficiency, and the establishment of mineral processing factories to boost exports. These measures, officials say, have played a crucial role in maintaining economic stability in Afghanistan.
