Los Angeles: Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed that his most financially successful film wasn’t Terminator or any action blockbuster, but the 1988 comedy Twins. Speaking on Watch What Happens Live, the 77-year-old actor said Twins, co-starring Danny DeVito, brought him the biggest paycheck of his career.
“We went all the way to the bank with that one,” Schwarzenegger said during the interview. He explained that he and DeVito didn’t receive upfront salaries for the film. Instead, they accepted a deal to receive some of the movie’s backend profits.
“You got a piece of the backend!” host Andy Cohen noted, to which Schwarzenegger replied, “Exactly. And it was fantastic.”
In Twins, Schwarzenegger and DeVito play genetically engineered twins who were separated at birth and later reunited. The unexpected comedy hit was a massive box office success and has become a fan favorite.
Schwarzenegger also shared that a sequel titled Triplets had been in the works. However, the project was halted following the death of director Ivan Reitman. “It was not done because the director passed away just before we wanted to start shooting the movie,” he explained.
