Mumbai: Ayushmann Khurrana is set to headline a new out-and-out comedy film produced by Bhushan Kumar and Juno Chopra. After wrapping up his untitled comedy, the actor will transition into a family drama with director Sooraj Barjatya.
Fresh off the success of Dream Girl 2, Ayushmann’s next release is Thama, a Diwali 2025 horror-comedy directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, part of Dinesh Vijan’s horror universe.
In 2026, he will also star in a spy comedy with Dharma Productions alongside Sara Ali Khan.
According to sources close to the production, the new comedy film is a quirky, situational laugh riot infused with slapstick humor. “Ayushmann has been looking for a script that fits his comedic sensibilities, and he’s finally found it,” the insider revealed.
Casting for the film is underway. It will feature several acclaimed actors and female leads. The film is slated to begin shooting in September 2025 and has a start-to-finish schedule.
While the director’s name and official title remain under wraps, the project has finalized its script. A proven director in the comedy genre is expected to helm the film.
Following this, Khurrana is scheduled to begin filming with Sooraj Barjatya in November. The untitled family dramedy is a prestigious project under the Rajshri banner.
“Playing a character like Prem is a dream role for Ayushmann,” the source added, noting that he has allotted bulk dates to the Barjatya project.
