JEDDAH — King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah celebrated a groundbreaking achievement in 2024, serving over 49.1 million passengers — the highest number ever recorded by a Saudi airport. This represents an impressive 14% growth compared to 2023, marking a milestone in the Kingdom’s aviation history.
The airport also saw a surge in activity, handling more than 278,000 flights throughout the year — an 11% year-over-year increase. Adding to this achievement, KAIA processed a staggering 47.1 million pieces of luggage, reflecting a 21% boost in operational efficiency.
December 31, 2024, went down as the busiest day in KAIA’s history, with over 174,600 passengers passing through. The month of December itself also set a record, hosting over 4.7 million travelers — the highest monthly total ever recorded at the airport.
Eng. Mazen Johar, CEO of Jeddah Airports, credited the airport’s success to the Kingdom’s leadership and the guidance of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics. He noted that the airport’s rapid growth is fueled by its vision to become a global aviation hub, enhancing the passenger experience while playing a pivotal role in connecting millions to the Two Holy Mosques.
“This achievement reflects the dedication of countless individuals — from government entities to private sector partners — working together to deliver world-class services,” Johar said. “Our commitment to infrastructure development and operational excellence is key to making KAIA a gateway for tourism, trade, and religious travel.”
Johar expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to this success, emphasizing their shared efforts in elevating the airport to international standards. As KAIA continues to grow, it remains at the heart of Saudi Arabia’s vision for progress and connectivity, opening doors to even greater milestones in the years to come.
