NAMA Launches ‘Financial Literacy Program’ to Empower Women Across Sharjah

Sharjah: Nearly 200 women across Sharjah have completed NAMA Women Advancement’s Financial Literacy Programme, an initiative aimed at strengthening financial skills and empowering women to take charge of their economic futures.

Held in Sharjah city, Kalba, Dibba Al Hisn, and Al Madam, the program provided participants with hands-on training in budgeting, saving, and responsible spending. Led by financial consultant Salah Al Halyan, the sessions moved beyond theory, encouraging women to apply financial principles in their daily lives ranging from planning household budgets to evaluating borrowing decisions.

Participants noted a significant shift in financial confidence. From mothers managing household expenses to aspiring entrepreneurs re-evaluating business goals, the training helped women gain clarity and control over their finances.

The program also aligns with UAE national priorities. According to the Ministry of Finance, Emirati women now make up 54.7% of the federal financial sector workforce and 42.8% of its leadership underscoring the critical importance of early financial education and support.

By equipping women with essential financial tools, NAMA aims to foster inclusive economic growth and contribute to a resilient, balanced society.

The initiative, part of NAMA’s broader commitment to women’s advancement under the leadership of Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of NAMA, reflects the organization's belief that financial literacy is key to long-term stability and active economic participation.
