ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss escalating tensions in the Middle East and their serious implications for regional peace and stability.
During the call, Sheikh Mohamed expressed the UAE’s solidarity with Iran and its people amid the recent Israeli military targeting of the Islamic Republic. He affirmed the UAE’s ongoing consultations with regional and international partners to promote de-escalation and restore calm, stressing the country's commitment to any initiative that supports regional security.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to prevent further escalation and mitigate its impact on global peace and security.
In a related statement, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, reiterated the UAE’s condemnation of Israel’s military strikes on Iran, issued from the onset of the crisis. He underlined the urgent need for a diplomatic solution, warning that continued hostilities could trigger broader and unintended consequences.
Sheikh Abdullah stressed the importance of restraint and cautioned against actions that could spill beyond the borders of the involved parties. He noted that President Sheikh Mohamed has been spearheading diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict, affirming the UAE’s firm belief in dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to peace, stability, and justice in the region.
At this critical juncture, Sheikh Abdullah called for wisdom and restraint, reaffirming the UAE’s support for international law, respect for sovereignty, and the role of the United Nations and Security Council in ensuring a ceasefire and safeguarding international peace and security.
