Sharjah Social Services Department Licenses 32 New Community Centers

SHARJAH: The Social Services Department in Sharjah has announced the licensing of 32 new social establishments across the emirate, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the social sector and improve the quality of support services for various community groups, particularly those in need.

The initiative, led by the Social Work Licensing and Development Department, aims to create a supportive and investment-friendly environment in the social services sector. Kholoud Al Nuaimi, Director of the Department, stated that the newly licensed centers will offer a wide range of services, including special education programs for people of determination, individual learning support, and assistance for children with learning difficulties.

Al Nuaimi added that several services are being introduced in Sharjah for the first time, such as early intervention programs, vocational training, and tailored skills development initiatives based on community needs. Three of the newly licensed centers are located in Khorfakkan, with another in Al Dhaid, and future expansion is planned in underserved areas.

To ensure high standards, all centers are required to comply with international best practices in line with local regulations. The department is also working with government entities to promote inclusive education and healthcare services, including partnerships with the Sharjah Private Education Authority and the Sharjah Health Authority.

Al Nuaimi outlined the step-by-step licensing process, which includes online application, commercial licensing, staffing, inspections, and compliance checks. Applicants have up to one year to meet all operational requirements before receiving final approval.

She emphasized the department’s commitment to accountability and quality assurance through annual inspections and a robust feedback system. Every licensed center must display clear contact information to facilitate communication with the public and uphold the rights of all service beneficiaries.

The department reaffirmed its mission to deliver world-class social services and contribute to the welfare of the Sharjah community in alignment with international standards.
