Sharjah Approves Alimony Fund to Support Women and Children

SHARJAH: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, chaired a meeting of the council on Wednesday at the Sharjah Government Legal Department, where several key judicial reforms and social support initiatives were approved.

At the outset, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed commended council members for their dedication to enhancing the emirate’s legal services and promoting transparency and efficiency in judicial processes.

During the session, the council approved the establishment of a specialized Family Court to strengthen family stability and better serve the needs of families in the emirate. The Judicial Inspection Department has been tasked with drafting regulations to support the new court’s operations and promote social cohesion.

The council also announced the formation of a committee to manage funds on behalf of children and similar vulnerable individuals, with a financial plan to ensure their protection and welfare. The committee will provide periodic updates to the council on its oversight and activities.

One of the key decisions was the approval of a new alimony fund aimed at supporting individuals, particularly women and children, who face challenges in accessing alimony payments due to legal or financial obstacles. The fund will provide immediate financial relief, with future reimbursement sought from the liable party, ensuring justice and stability for families in need.
