Pakistan’s Parliament Condemn Israeli Attack on Iran, Express Solidarity With Iran

Islamabad: Both houses of Pakistan’s Parliament – the National Assembly and Senate – have unanimously passed resolutions condemning the recent Israeli airstrikes on Iran, calling the attack a grave violation of Iranian sovereignty and international law. Lawmakers declared their firm support for Iran in the wake of the aggression and reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance of non-recognition of Israel.

Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar tabled the resolution in the Senate, which was adopted unanimously. The resolution described the Israeli strikes as a blatant breach of the UN Charter and international legal norms, lamenting the silence of the Muslim world over the attack. “We stand with the people of Iran,” the resolution stated.

Leaders of the opposition in the Senate, Shibli Faraz and Irfan Siddiqui, strongly condemned the Israeli assault, warning it had further destabilized the region. They labeled Israel a "terrorist state" posing a threat to global peace.

In the National Assembly, a joint resolution was presented by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Naveed Qamar, with support from both government and opposition benches. The resolution echoed the Senate’s position, stating that the Israeli attack not only violated Iran’s territorial integrity but also endangered peace in the Middle East and beyond.

Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said Israel’s very existence was illegitimate and that it had become a serious threat to peace in the region.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan urged the government to push for an emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League. Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said verbal condemnations were not enough and called for concrete measures to support Iran.

Speaker of the National Assembly reiterated that Pakistan does not recognize Israel and stands firmly with the Islamic Republic of Iran and its people.

The resolutions came in response to a deadly overnight Israeli strike on Iranian territory. According to Iranian media reports, the attack killed Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Iran’s Armed Forces, and Major General Hossein Salami, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), along with six nuclear scientists. Reports also said that five civilians, including women and children, were killed and 50 others injured.

Israel claimed it had targeted nuclear and military sites in Iran, intensifying tensions in an already volatile region.
