PTI to Hold Swabi Rally on Feb 8 Amid Election Protest Plans

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) President Junaid Akbar has said to organize a public rally on February 8 in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The event is being held to mark a black day. It was last general elections, which the party says were set up and produced a stolen mandate.

PTI officials have underlined the rally's importance

  • Protest Against Election Rigging: According to the PTI, the demonstration is a protest against an election that was manipulated.
  • February 8 will be designated as a "Black Day" by the party in protest of the purportedly stolen mandate.
  • Demand for Investigation: The PTI is calling for the establishment of a commission to look into claims of election tampering.
  • Support for Imran Khan: The gathering is probably going to be a demonstration in favor of Imran Khan.
  • Supporter Mobilization: In preparation for the rally, PTI is organizing its workforce. According to a pledge made by the provincial president of the PTI, the Swabi demonstration will be the biggest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's  history.
  • Opposition to government: The gathering calls for accountability surrounding the elections and directly challenges the way the administration is handling the problem.

PTI Lahore President Sheikh Imtiaz reported that some party members have already arrived in Swabi, while others are getting ready to leave for the rally. The Punjab government has responded to the PTI rally by implementing strict security measures. Malik Ahmad Bhachar, the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, has reiterated his commitment to attending the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Swabi, saying that no obstacles will prevent their participation.

Security Measures

on A number of security precautions are being taken in front of the PTI gathering in Swabi:

  • Punjab Government Measures: In order to handle any possible emergency, the Punjab government has taken proactive measures, putting the police forces in Rawalpindi and Attock on high alert.
  • Police Deployment: Under the direction of the Regional Police Officer (RPO) of Rawalpindi, the Central Police Office in Lahore has sent 1,500 police officers from four districts, including Highway Patrolling Police, the Punjab Constabulary, and District Police Officers (DPOs).
  • Anti-Riot Equipment: To properly handle any disturbances, every unit has been outfitted with anti-riot equipment, such as tear gas shells.
  • Security notice: In light of the possibility of terrorist attacks during the demonstration, the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) has issued a security notice.

DPO Attock and the Central Police Office in Rawalpindi will also be in charge of handling logistics, which includes providing the deployed personnel with lodging, food, transportation, and fuel.
