RIYADH: Saudi Arabia and India have agreed to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors, including defense industries, energy, and petrochemicals, according to a joint statement issued on Wednesday.
The announcement followed a brief visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Saudi Arabia.
During the visit, both sides discussed joint projects in refineries and petrochemical industries and agreed to enhance collaboration in energy supplies, particularly crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas, according to the report.
The two nations also pledged to boost coordination in international forums such as the G20, International Monetary Fund, and World Bank to help tackle global economic challenges.
The joint statement confirmed the expansion of the Saudi-Indian Strategic Partnership Council to four ministerial committees, reflecting the growing depth of bilateral relations.
Regional issues, including the crisis in Yemen, were also addressed. Both sides reiterated support for efforts to reach a comprehensive political resolution.
The Indian side commended Saudi Arabia's initiatives to promote dialogue and reconciliation among Yemeni parties.
In addition, India expressed gratitude for the Kingdom’s continued care of the 2.7 million Indian nationals residing in Saudi Arabia, highlighting the close ties between the two nations.
