Saudi Foreign Minister Meets Egyptian and Iranian Counterparts on Gaza Crisis at Oslo Forum

Oslo: Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with his Egyptian and Iranian counterparts on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Oslo Forum 2025 in Norway.

During his meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and key regional developments, with a particular focus on the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The talks took place as the death toll from the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict surpassed 55,000, according to figures from the Gaza Health Ministry, which reported that women and children made up more than half of the fatalities.

Prince Faisal and Abdelatty reviewed ongoing efforts to de-escalate the conflict and enhance humanitarian assistance to affected civilians.

Addionally, Prince Faisal also met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The two officials discussed Saudi-Iranian relations and exchanged views on current regional and international issues.

The meeting between Saudi Arabia and Iran took place amid heightened regional tensions, including reported Israeli and U.S. threats of strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

This diplomatic engagement occurred just before the next round of Iran-U.S. nuclear negotiations scheduled in Oman.

Prior to this, Saudi Foreign Minister visited Iran to discuss nuclear diplomacy and practical steps toward normalizing relations, while both countries maintained a cautious approach given ongoing regional uncertainties.

These efforts reflect Riyadh’s desire to support a diplomatic resolution and avoid escalation in the region.
