Casablanca: Saudi women professionals from the Ministry of Interior are playing a pivotal role in the Makkah Route Initiative in Morocco, helping to streamline the Hajj journey for pilgrims departing from Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca.
This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader commitment to facilitating a smooth pilgrimage experience from departure to arrival in Makkah and Madinah.
Personnel from the General Directorate of Passports described their participation as a unique professional experience that highlights the expanding role of Saudi women in serving Hajj pilgrims.
They emphasized that the Makkah Route Initiative provides a comprehensive model for simplifying procedures and easing travel, reflecting the Kingdom’s core values of care and respect for its guests.
The human interaction involved in assisting pilgrims through the various stages of completing travel procedures was described as deeply impactful by team members, who expressed pride in contributing to this distinctive initiative.
The program showcases a spirit of cooperation and readiness while underscoring the vital role Saudi women play in serving pilgrims.
The Makkah Route Initiative, led by the Ministry of Interior as part of the Pilgrim Experience Program under Saudi Vision 2030, offers high-quality services starting in the pilgrims’ countries of departure.
These services include electronic issuance of Hajj visas, completion of passport procedures, and the coding and sorting of luggage based on transportation and accommodation arrangements within Saudi Arabia.
Upon arrival, pilgrims are transported directly by bus to their accommodations in Makkah or Madinah, with competent authorities managing the efficient and orderly delivery of their luggage.
Since its launch in 2017, the Makkah Route Initiative has expanded to operate at 11 airports across seven countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Morocco, Türkiye, and Ivory Coast.
It has served over one million pilgrims, significantly enhancing the pilgrimage experience by enabling pilgrims to complete visa, biometric, and customs procedures in their home countries.
This reduces wait times upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, allowing pilgrims to focus fully on their spiritual journey.
The initiative exemplifies Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals by combining faith and innovation to provide a dignified, seamless, and spiritually focused pilgrimage experience.
The active involvement of Saudi women professionals in Morocco reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to empowering women and delivering exceptional services to the guests of Allah worldwide.
