Nice: The session announcing the recommendations of the Ocean Rise and Resilience Coalition Summit was inaugurated in Nice, France, on the sidelines of the Third United Nations Ocean and Atmosphere Conference (UNOC3).
The event was organized by the governments of France and Costa Rica and attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, alongside global leaders, senior officials, and environmental experts.
During the session, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi highlighted the GCC's commitment to climate and environmental issues. He emphasized the importance of regional and international cooperation and the adoption of ambitious strategies to address climate change, especially in coastal areas vital to the region's economy and society.
Albudaiwi noted the significant efforts by GCC countries to protect marine environments, particularly the Arabian Gulf, resulting in tangible improvements in marine conservation and ecosystem management.
He also stressed the value of engaging with international experts and learning from diverse experiences to enhance sustainable development efforts. Albudaiwi called for translating climate commitments into practical actions to safeguard the planet, particularly vulnerable coastal and marine communities, and ensure their resilience against future environmental challenges.
