Rawalpindi: On Thursday afternoon, reports emerged that Rawalpindi police had detained the sisters of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan along with several senior party leaders.
According to sources, the police blocked the roads leading to Adiala Jail by placing containers, preventing access to the area. PTI's delegation, which included Imran Khan’s sisters, was advised by police to return, being told that no meeting with the former prime minister would be allowed that day.
Imran Khan’s three sisters were stopped at a police checkpoint near Dahgal while attempting to reach Adiala Jail.
PTI has confirmed that, in addition to Imran Khan’s sisters, the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub, Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmad Khan Bachar, Chairman of Sunni Ittehad Council Sahibzada Hamid Raza, and Imran Khan’s focal person Qasim Niazi were also among those taken into custody while trying to meet the party founder.
The incident has sparked criticism from PTI and its supporters, who view the detentions as part of a broader clampdown on the party's leadership.
