Record Number of Pakistani Doctors Shifted to U.S in a Year: PMDC President

ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, Professor Rizwan Taj, President of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), revealed that a record 1,061 Pakistani doctors have secured permanent residency positions in the United States within a year—marking the highest number ever recorded in a single year.

According to professor Taj, the majority of these doctors hailed from prominent institutions such as King Edward Medical University, Allama Iqbal Medical College, Dow Medical College, Shifa College of Medicine, Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), and Khyber Medical University.

Professor Taj emphasized that the remarkable performance of these doctors reflects the strength of medical education in Pakistan, crediting the PMDC's stringent standards, robust curriculum, and comprehensive training programs.

He reiterated PMDC's commitment to cultivating academic excellence among future doctors and described this milestone as the beginning of a transformative journey aimed at further elevating the quality of medical education in the country.

Highlighting the competitive nature of the U.S. residency application process, Dr. Taj noted that candidates must demonstrate outstanding academic performance, pass the rigorous United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), and successfully navigate a demanding application procedure involving interviews and extensive documentation.

Only the most dedicated and resilient candidates succeed in such a challenging selection process, the PMDC President added.

He concluded by stating that this achievement reinforces the council's vision of enhancing medical education standards to prepare healthcare professionals in Pakistan who can meet global benchmarks.
