Saudi Project Masam Clears 1,050 Explosives in Yemen

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Project Masam cleared 1,050 explosive devices from several regions in Yemen last week, according to a recent report.

Three anti-personnel mines, 24 anti-tank mines, 1,020 unexploded ordnance, and three miscellaneous explosive devices were among the items cleared.

Ousama Al-Gosaibi, Managing Director of Project Masam, stated that since the initiative began in 2018, a total of 488,656 explosive devices have been removed.

The explosives, planted indiscriminately, posed serious threats to civilians, including children, women, and the elderly.

Several governorates, including Marib, Aden, Jouf, Shabwa, Taiz, Hodeidah, Lahij, Sanaa, Al-Bayda, Al-Dhale, and Saada, were the sites of demining operations.

Additionally, Project Masam supports people hurt by explosive devices, teaches local demining teams, and provides them with cutting-edge equipment.

Teams focus on clearing areas such as villages, roads, and schools to ensure civilian safety and enable humanitarian aid delivery.
