TrinaTracker Opens 3GW Factory in Saudi Arabia to Boost Solar

Saudi Arabia – TrinaTracker, a global leader in smart solar tracking solutions and a subsidiary of Trinasolar Co. Ltd (SHA: 688599), has announced the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia, reinforcing its commitment to the region’s renewable energy expansion. Set to commence operations in Q1 2025, the factory Trina Tracker for Renewable Energy will enhance local production, distribution, and service capabilities in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.

The factory, located in the 3rd Industrial City in Jeddah, is part of a land-lease agreement with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON). With an annual production capacity of 3GW, the facility will manufacture TrinaTracker’s Vanguard series of solar trackers and smart control systems. This marks TrinaTracker’s fourth manufacturing plant, complementing existing operations in China, Spain, and Brazil.

Saudi Arabia’s solar energy market is poised for significant growth, projected to reach USD 125.2 billion by 2033. TrinaTracker’s investment aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the national energy mix, create local job opportunities, and drive economic growth through sustainable solutions.

Vincent Wu, Global Sales Vice President and MEA MU Head at Trinasolar, emphasized the strategic significance of the new factory: "The establishment of our new TrinaTracker factory in Saudi Arabia is a strategic step in advancing our localization efforts and reinforcing our commitment to sustainable energy solutions. By strengthening our local presence, we are improving service capabilities, increasing delivery efficiency, and ensuring that customers in the region have access to high-quality solar tracking solutions. This initiative directly supports Saudi Vision 2030 by contributing to energy sustainability and enhancing the region’s energy resilience."

The factory will operate with zero pollutant emissions, supporting Saudi Arabia’s transition to clean energy. TrinaTracker’s advanced smart solar tracking systems are specifically engineered to optimize energy generation in extreme weather conditions, such as high temperatures, strong winds, and sandstorms common across the region.

By utilizing real-world data from global projects, TrinaTracker’s smart control system enhances energy yield by 8% annually, significantly increasing the internal rate of return (IRR) for solar project owners. This technological edge ensures higher efficiency and reliability in solar energy production.

As part of Trinasolar’s broader strategy, the Saudi facility will provide faster delivery timelines, improved technical support, and comprehensive pre-sales and after-sales services. A dedicated service team will offer training programs and on-site assistance, further solidifying Trinasolar’s commitment to its partners and clients in the region.

Trinasolar’s regional expansion is part of a larger commitment to supporting the Middle East’s clean energy transition. One of its recent key projects, the Abydos Battery Energy Storage Project in Aswan, Egypt, in partnership with AMEA Power, recently achieved a major milestone with the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) completion at Trina Storage’s Super-Factory in Chu Zhou, China. The first Elementa 2 system shipment is set to depart on February 19, 2025, marking another step in advancing the region’s renewable energy transformation.

With localized manufacturing, advanced energy solutions, and strategic partnerships, Trinasolar is playing a vital role in shaping the Middle East’s renewable energy future. By enhancing energy security, sustainability, and economic growth, the company is contributing to the region’s vision of a clean, diversified, and energy-efficient future.
