Seoul: Squid Game Season 3 has officially ended, with its sixth and final episode now streaming on Netflix. However, the long-awaited conclusion has not landed well with viewers. The finale, featuring the evacuation of the island and the ominous “Game over” message, has sparked a wave of backlash across the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Fans slammed the storyline, CGI effects, and character decisions, calling the final season “trash” and “pointless.”
Picking up after the failed rebellion of Season 2, the new season follows Seong Gi-hun as he reenters the deadly game, intent on dismantling it from within. However, fans felt the plot lacked originality and emotional depth. Many criticized the show’s decision to sideline major characters, insert unrealistic twists, and focus on what one user called an “ugly CGI baby.”
One viral post read: “Squid Game S3 was so bad. Everyone died for a CGI baby while his real daughter waited years? What a joke.” Another added, “The only good thing about Season 3 was that it ended.”
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk warned fans that the season would be darker and more hopeless, but it fell flat for many. With no plans for a fourth season, fans feel the series ended grimly and meaninglessly.
