Najran’s Mineral Wealth Tops SAR145 Billion as Industrial Investments Surge

Najran: Najran Region is rapidly emerging as a strategic hub in Saudi Arabia’s mining sector, backed by mineral resources valued at over SAR145 billion and a diverse geological landscape.

The region boasts significant deposits of precious and industrial minerals, including gold, copper, zinc, lead, silver, and various decorative and construction stones such as marble, granite, basalt, and silica sand. This mineral wealth positions Najran as a key contributor to the Kingdom’s economic diversification goals under Vision 2030.

Najran’s mountainous terrain is a primary source of high-quality granite, with more than 14 national companies operating across multiple mining sites. The Bir Askar mining complex, in particular, has attracted major industry players due to its unique geological features.

Currently, the region produces approximately 4,500 cubic meters of granite annually, with expansion plans underway to meet rising demand in both domestic and international markets. Najran granite, known for its distinctive colors and durability, is widely used in high-profile projects, including the Two Holy Mosques, government buildings, universities, and royal palaces.
